Introducing XF3

Brand new to Xeros Technology

A new external filtration device from Xeros Technology

We are delighted to announce the launch of a brand new product, the XF3, our independent and freestanding microfibre filtration device.
XF3 enables our patented and market leading microfibre filtration system, XFilter to be housed as a stand-alone solution, compatible with any washing machine model. The XF3 achieves a 99% microplastic capture rate and is designed for upmost consumer ease, requiring no replacement cartridges and has one of the lowest emptying frequencies of all available filters. To make the product even more consumer-friendly, XF3 can be installed at any height enabling its sleek modular design to sit on a countertop or under a sink. It is programmed to automatically start when the washing machine drains and has an alert when it needs emptying, enabling users to simply plug it in and leave it to work with complete peace of mind.

XF3 is available immediately for licensing and branding partners and will be launching to consumers in 2024.

Why we developed the XF3

Microfibres (fibres less than 5mm) from synthetic textiles are contributing to the global plastic crisis. Every year more than half a million tonnes of microfibres are released into the world’s oceans simply from washing our clothes.[1] Research shows that microfibres from synthetic textiles (known as microplastics) are the biggest source of primary microplastic pollution in our oceans.1 It is reported that microplastic pollution has increased 10-fold since 2005, with over 171 trillion microplastic particles now floating in our oceans.[2]

Washing machine filters are effective at capturing the microfibres shed form our clothing, they are a near term solution that is commercially available today. We continue to drive the adoption of our integrated filtration solutions but have developed the XF3 as a vital add on that can cater to both new and legacy machines.

If the top ten washing machine manufacturers in the world adopted an XFilter, in just three years 312 million people would have cut the microplastics they were sending into the world’s oceans by 54 million tons. The equivalent of 3 billion plastic forks.

Neil Austin CEO at Xeros Technology –

“XF3 enables our patented, high-performing microfibre filtration system, XFilter to be housed as a stand-alone solution that can be attached to any washing machine model. The market for accessory sales of washing machine microfibre capture device is expected to be significant in Europe in the next few years and XF3 has been created as a plug and play solution to meet that demand.”

XF3 debuted at the Sustainability Village at IFA Berlin 2023, the largest consumer electronics show in the world.
